Guess What's Making A Comeback?

MySpace. MYSPACE. 

Yep. The social media site that basically raised an entire generation is getting another shot. The current owners say they're working on relaunching the platform with a focus on creativity and helping people connect in a more personal way.

The second I read that headline, I didn't think about social media.

I thought about being 15.

I thought about sprinting to the family computer after school.

I thought about spending an embarrassing amount of time finding the perfect profile song because obviously everyone needed to know exactly how I was feeling before they even looked at my pictures.

I thought about glitter graphics, questionable fonts. Backgrounds that somehow made every word impossible to read.

And somehow... we thought our profiles looked amazing.

 Then there was the Top 8.

Today's kids will never understand the stress of publicly ranking your friends.

One wrong move and suddenly someone was asking, "So... why am I number six now?" It was the original social media drama.

And honestly? We survived. We built character and tough skin.

What I love most about hearing that MySpace might be making a comeback isn't that I think we'll all start using it again.

It's that it instantly takes so many of us back to a time when the internet felt different.

Before algorithms decided what we saw.

Before everything needed to be polished.

Before we worried about getting enough likes.

Social media felt... fun.

Also... can we take a second to appreciate Tom? He was literally everyone's first friend.

Never judged us. Never unfollowed us. Never posted anything annoying. Just quietly supported every questionable profile makeover we made.

Will MySpace actually make a successful comeback? Only time will tell.

• Glitter graphics that should've come with a seizure warning.
• Mirror selfies with digital cameras.
• Emo lyrics as your status.
• Logging in immediately after school to see who was online.
• Tom... our most loyal friend.

Sometimes nostalgia isn't about wanting to go back.

It's just remembering a time when life felt a little simpler... and our biggest problem was figuring out which song best described our personality.
